Frequently Asked Questions:

What is your favorite brand of makeup?

There is no brand in particular that we would deem as "our favorite" - however we are huge proponents for clean beauty brands (i.e. brands formulated without synthetic colors, artificial fragrances, parabens, phthalates, sulfates, formaldehydes, PEGS, BHA/BHT, hydroquinone, triclosan, lead, mercury, coal tar, denatured alcohol, etc.). For every day use, we recommend using clean and/or green beauty brands like Jane Iredale, 100% Pure, RMS, Juice Beauty, Vapour Beauty, W3ll People, or Ilia Beauty

What is the best thing i can do for my skin?

Outside of having a consistent and effective quality skincare regimen, living a healthy lifestyle is essential - drink at least 4-6 8oz cups of water every day (studies suggest even more), exercise regularly,  limit alcohol consumption, always use a safe sunscreen before going outside, and absolutely no smoking.

My wedding is in less than 2 months and I want my skin to be at its best. Is there anything you recommend to ensure I have beautiful skin?

For any special event in the near future, we recommend consulting with a cosmetic dermatologist or an experienced medical esthetician to see what professional services may be right for you. Outside of a strong at-home skincare regimen, having regular facials and professional treatments can do wonders in regard to achieving a more youthful and revitalized appearance.

What skincare brand do you recommend to your clients most?

As with cosmetics/makeup, we strongly recommend building a skincare regimen using clean and/or organic lines that are free of any questionable ingredients. It is important to remember that a portion of whatever you put on your skin gets directly absorbed into your body - for this reason, products being used on a daily basis should be safe enough to eat. Brands that we endorse for every day use include (but are not limited to) Virginia StonePlantioxidants, 100% Pure, Vapour Beauty, Eminence OrganicsTata Harper, or  Juice Beauty.

I spend so much money on anti-aging products and do not really notice much of a difference in my skin. What am i doing wrong?

This could be the result of several factors. Make sure the skincare products you are using have not gone bad. It is important to note that skincare is primarily a means for prevention vs. correction/"age reversal" - depending on your concerns, it may be worth scheduling a consultation with your cosmetic dermatologist to discuss effective nonsurgical cosmetic treatments that may be right for you (i.e botox, fillers, laser resurfacing, light therapy, chemical peels, etc.).

What is the biggest mistake people make when it comes to makeup and/or skincare?

In regard to makeup, many individuals feel this is the "first line of defense" to having beautiful skin. Always remember that makeup should come second to a healthy and effective skincare regimen. Wear as sheer of a makeup base as possible, and always wash off all your makeup before going to bed. In terms of skincare, make sure to read the ingredients on the labels of everything you are putting on your skin. Many mainstream lines have questionably poisonous ingredients in them - always do your research before putting anything on your face or body.
